While it is hard to turn your back on Christmas traditions, for a lot of people it is the most ideal time to have a vacation when kids are on a long holiday break. The questions are: where will you spend your Christmas vacation and what makes a perfect Christmas destination?
The most perfect destination can be any place that can provide with what you want and need. It can be a city known for its wonderful Christmas ambiance – skiing rinks/pistes, Christmas shows, festive dinners and Christmas shopping sprees – like New York, Paris and Amsterdam. It can be an exotic destination that you have so wanted to visit for a long time or a place known for its traditional festivities.
Get a glimpse of a handful of destinations that are definitely worth your time in this list posted in The Independent – Travel Section that was lifted from the TripAdvisor. This is entitled “From New York to Berlin: The most popular holiday destinations for winter and Christmas.”
Whether it’s winter sun on the beach or frosted lakes and a Christmas market, this list won’t leave you missing summer
The clocks have gone back, there’s a chill in the air, and mulled wine is staging its inevitable return. For many, the festive season is the best part of the year, a time for holiday cheer and Christmas fun, with parties and gatherings aplenty
… The travel website, which allows users to post their own reviews, presented UK users’ favourite international destinations for the winter months. The list was compiled using the most searched for destinations for trips dated between 1st December 2014 and 28th February 2015.
City breaks proved particularly popular, with New York and Paris topping the list, though there were plenty who preferred the prospect of some much-missed sun.
New York, USA
New York City takes the top spot as the most desired international destination. The cold winter weather does little to deter tourism with the Big Apple attracting over 54 million foreign and domestic tourists throughout the year
Paris, France
Paris comes in at number two, with many travellers opting for a romantic getaway to the City of Lights. Tourists can take advantage of the relative calm during the low season, as well as the city’s stunning festive decorations
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt
At number three is Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh. The resort city offers December temperatures of up to 32 degrees Celsius and an abundance of sandy beaches.
Dubai, UAE
Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates, grabs the number four spot. The city offers travellers year-round hot weather and a view from the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam makes number five on the list. Lucky travellers can go ice skating on the city’s famous canals, but be warned: they don’t freeze every year!
The Rest of the List
The list also includes Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje at Tenerife. The former boasts of all-night partying while the latter makes a great destination for those who prefer a more restful alternative for families or elderlies.
If you want an exotic destination in the topic, Thailand comes highly recommended. It offers guests a bevy of attractions and a good weather year-round. Another “beach” destination that makes a fabulous Christmas destination is Playa Blanca at Lanzarote in Spain. The name is well-earned with its soft white sand and surprisingly warm waters even in winters.
Berlin grabbed the tenth place in the list. It is actually not surprising as Christmas is a well-loved holiday and tradition in this city. You’ll have a blast shopping in its festive Christmas markets that boast of a wide array of great Christmas finds.
If you live anywhere close to these destinations, you can opt for a staycation and have an enviable Christmas this season. Another popular destination that you can consider is Britain with London, Edinburgh, York, Brighton and Bath making it to the list.
